Guided water sports activity

Description

This activity is intended for people with previous kayaking experience (beginner-intermediate level). Please note that it will be held in French.


Navigate under the last rays of sunshine and discover the mysteries of the riverbanks as the day draws to a close and nocturnal species begin to awaken. The outing is supervised by a GUEPE nature educator and a guide in a sea kayak to ensure your safety on the water. This activity is accessible to beginners, but we recommend having already kayaked before signing up.

Includes
  • Single kayak*;
  • Personal flotation device (PFD) and water safety kit;
  • Headlamp.

*There will be single kayaks only for this activity.

‍General conditions
  • Ability to swim;
  • Signing the Risk Acknowledgement and Acceptance Form found in your "My Account" section when you create an account on our platform;
  • Meeting the minimum age requirements : Children need to be at least 12 years old to board a watercraft. 12 to 17 year-olds can board a watercraft alone, but must be accompanied by an adult, themselves in a watercraft;
  • Respecting the maximum number of people allowed on the watercraft, as well as the other instructions provided on site;
  • No animals are allowed on board the watercrafts.

How to get there
  • Please make sure you enter the proper address into your GPS, as Cap-Saint-Jacques has more than one entrance.​ 
  • The meeting point is the Cap-Saint-Jacques nautical site, located on the beach. The entrance to the beach is not the same as the entrance to the welcome centre (see map below). 
  • If this is your first visit to the site, please allow extra time in case you have to wait in line to pass through the gate or in case you need to reorient yourself.
  • Please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes early to walk from the overflow parking lot to the beach, as the main parking lot is sometimes full. 
Access to the Beach and Parking

Registration for this activity entitles you to free access to the beach during the activity. Please show your registration confirmation at the gate to enter. Parking fees still apply if you arrive by vehicle.

‍Good to Know
  • For a safe and enjoyable experience, consider bringing a water bottle, a hat, closed shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
  • Please only bring items that can follow you on your watercraft. A waterproof bag may be useful. No lockers or changing rooms will be available on site.
  • There is a fee to park in nature parks. For more information, please visit the city of Montréal's website.

The entrance to the Cap-Saint-Jacques water sports site, located on the beach, is not the same as the entrance to the Welcome Centre. The GUEPE icon, located on the beach, shows the location of the water sports site.
